Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year from Scalby Fair
This year we held the biggest Scalby Fair ever. The event space was expanded so that it was completely pedestrianised. There were more stalls than ever, and for the first time some food trucks to compliment our own traditional BBQ. We were able to expand the entertainment offering to a second stage. Blessed with good weather the Fair attracted large crowds who have given us enthusiastic feedback. We were able to donate a four-figure sum to local charities.
None of this would have been possible without a great deal of hard work. I would like to thank our loyal stallholders who provide the bedrock of the Fair and are essential to attracting a great crowd. The expansion of the Fair meant that we needed more volunteers than ever. Whether they were grilling burgers, directing traffic, emptying bins or shaking collecting buckets our volunteer team were always cheerful and were critical to the great atmosphere at the Fair. We have a superb committee without which none of this would be possible. Much of their work goes unseen but without them there would be no event.
Thank you to everybody who made the 2024 Fair such a success.
We are already planning for the 2025 Scalby Fair which will be held between Friday 13 June and Sunday 22 June. Fair Day will be on Saturday 22 June. We have looked back at 2024 and aim to make the 2025 Fair the biggest and best ever. We will develop the entertainment offering, make tweaks to the layout so that circulation is easier, and attract more stalls. Old favourites like the fancy dress parade will return all around the theme of superheroes. I urge you to support the 2025 Scalby Fair which is such a bedrock of our community. Details of the Fair, stall booking, and other events will be available early in the New Year on our website https://scalbyfair.org.uk or via our social media on Facebook and in the New Year Instagram.
Earlier in the Year on Easter Monday almost 200 people and one goat entered Scalby Walk despite some poor weather. A great time was had by all and £2,500 was raised for local charities. Look out for the Easter Bunny announcing details of the 2025 Walk to be held on Easter Monday, 21 April.
A Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year from all at Scalby Fair.Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year from Scalby Fair

Members of the Scalby Fair Committee are holding a drop in session at the Nag’s Head on 15th November from 6pm. We welcome anyone who has an interest in the Fair – maybe as a stallholder, actual or potential, a volunteer or maybe you just want to know more about the aims and running of the Fair – to join us. This will be a very informal gathering where anybody can say what’s on their mind and share ideas and suggestions.
Many great ideas have been put forward for our 2025 Fair Week and our Easter Monday Scalby Walk. While continuing with most of our traditional events, the committee is considering ways of making things even more fun and improving some of the logistics behind the preparation for Fair Week which are vital for the smooth running of the various events.

The Scalby Fair AGM will be held on Thursday, 10 October 2024, from 6.30pm at Scarborough Rugby Club. We welcome all committee members, supporters, and friends of the Fair to the AGM. Please send your apologies to the Secretary via email to sheppardnigel@hotmail.com.
2024 was a fantastic year for Scalby Fair. The Fair was expanded, there were more stalls, some new forms of entertainment and great food offerings. We were able to give over £5,000 to charity. We will celebrate this with a dinner at the Rugby Club on Thursday 10 October, 7.00 pm for 7.30, immediately following the AGM. The menu will be a choice of:
Starter – Chicken liver pate served with salad, chutney and crusty bread or tomato & basil soup with bread roll and butter.
Main – Oven roasted loin of pork served with stuffing and a sage and onion gravy or baked fillet of salmon served with a lemon, prawn and chive sauce
or
Cumin, butternut squash and lentil wellington served with a spicy tomato sauce (vegan)
The price will be £24 including wine and coffee.
All members, partners, friends, and supporters are very welcome. Please could you reply to Nigel, by Friday 4 October, at sheppardnigel@hotmail.com or via Signal if you are attending the dinner with numbers and menu choices.
