Everybody’s efforts are so appreciated and we look forward to a great 2024.
Folk Festival: A Great Success!!
The folk festival held in September at The Nag’s Head in Scalby, was greatly enjoyed by many people. In addition to great music and a lot of fun, £5,150 was raised as a donation to Martin House Hospice. This sum includes £850 from the Temperance Hall Fridays events.

Temperance Hall Fridays: 4 August 2023: Carrie Martin
In support of Martin House Children’s Hospice.
Since a chance meeting with guitar virtuoso, Gordon Giltrap and with his mentoring, Carrie has become a world wide, much admired musician.
Her last two albums Seductive Sky and Entity included guests Elliott Randall, Gordon Giltrap, Oliver Wakeman, Daniel Cassidy (brother of late Eva Cassidy) and ex Bad Company guitarist Dave Colwell.
Her latest album ‘Evergreen’ includes lead guitarist Roger Fisher from the rock band Heart.
All albums are a snapshot of an artist at the peak of her creativity and gaining her fine reviews plus the chance to perform under the Vintage Guitar banner at NAMM 2020, 2022 and 2023 in California.
Carrie has performed on tour in Canada and also guests at various guitar shows around the UK to demo her use of open tunings.
Just a few quotes of many:
‘Phenomenal’ Rick Wakeman CBE
“Having heard this album I think if it weren’t for covid times this would have been a natural for radio 6 and Radio 2”
Andy Snipper Music-News.com
It’s obvious from the moment you hear Carrie Martin sing that she is an outstanding vocalist with passion in each breath and she is a fine guitar player.
