Scalby Methodist Church open on Scalby Fair Day

11 May 2023 By Developer

Scalby Methodist Church, North Street, Scalby
150th Anniversary (1873-2023)

2023 marks the 150th Anniversary of the opening of the Methodist Chapel in North Street, Scalby.

The Chapel will be open during the afternoon of Scalby Fair day from 12 noon to 4pm.  Do come along to visit the Chapel – we have a display of church history and events.  It may be that, if you’ve been involved with any of the Chapel activities over the years, you could be captured in one of our many photographs.  There will be tea and coffee on offer.

It may be that in the midst of the busyness of the day you might be seeking the opportunity for a quiet place – you can find that in the Chapel.

It would be good to see you.

We have several events planned during the coming months – see the Chapel notice board or keep an eye on the Village News Section of the Scarborough News!

Scalby Fair Wine Tasting Evening 2023

7 May 2023 By Developer

Your chance to sample a selection of chosen wines and to enjoy, if you wish, either a cheese board or meat platter with your wine. Join us at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 14 June, as usual at the Nag’s Head.

The Scalby Fair Wine Tasting has proved a very popular event with increasing numbers attending each year.

We will start as usual with a glass of sparkling wine followed by the tasting of three white wines and three red wines.

There will be a short explanation of each wine and then, after tasting the wine and chatting amongst yourselves, you can enjoy guessing the cost of the bottle.

The wines this year include organic, wild fermented and a first look at a wine from Alsace. The quality will be assured as each wine is individually chosen by wine enthusiast and sommelier, our host Linda Dowson.

Tickets are available from the Nag’s Head from Friday, 12 May 2023.

Wine Tasting: £12.00
Cheese Board: £6.50
Meat Platter: £6.50
