Scalby Fair 2022: Soul Rida Evening

20 June 2022 By Developer

The (by now) traditional Friday evening event shows the ever-popular Soul Rida returning once again to Scalby Fair.

Our intrepid Scalby Fair Official Photographer, Mike Shingler, dipped his toe in the mosh pit before taking refuge back in the bar.

Scalby Fair Folk Evening 2022: gallery

The Scalby Fair Folk Evening was a great success with nine invited guests playing a range of music from evocative Irish tunes, entertaining novelty songs, close harmony to contemporary songs.

The Yorkshire Coast Morris team started the evening with a series of traditional dances outside the pub, finishing with an invitation to the audience to participate.

We then moved indoors to carry on the evening with fabulous tunes and songs, including an extremely interesting and entertaining act who performed whilst riding a unicyclel.

Thanks to Galeforce, Philip Bull, Accord, Bob & Lindsey, The Nags Head Players, John Drakes, Martin Heaton and Alastair James for providing excellent entertainment for free.

With thanks to Pete Everitt for organising the evening, and providing the photos.

Scalby Fair Beer and Gin Festival 2022: gallery

17 June 2022 By Developer

Our intrepid Scalby Fair Official Photographer, Mike, had to force himself along once again to take some more of his excellent photos. This time it was of the early evening enjoyment of a fine range of North Riding and Wold Top ales, and a great selection of gins. Held at the Nag’s Head, food was available from Arthur’s to accompany the beer and gin.

Scalby Fair Prize Draw tickets were on sale during the evening, as they are at every event.

Another great evening – this time held with the support of James and Stacey at the Nag’s Head.

Here are the photos for you to enjoy. Click on any image to enlarge and view as a slide show.

Scalby Fair 2022 Wine Tasting Evening: Gallery

17 June 2022 By Developer

A fine evening at the Nag’s Head saw a full house of guests enjoying a wide range of wines carefully selected by our host Sommelier, Linda Dowson. Whilst we persuaded ourselves that the idea of the evening was a competition to guess the retail value of the wines, everyone throughly enjoyed the generous glasses of white, rose and red distributed by the Scalby Fair Team. Excellent cheese boxes, too, to help the wine go down.

Here’s some feedback from one of our guests, Gavin:

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for organising the wine tasting evening. We had a group of 10 and everyone had a fantastic time!

Scalby Fair Treasure Hunt 2022: results and answers

17 June 2022 By Developer

It was a lovely evening weather-wise and our Scalby Fair Treasure Hunt organisers, Emma and Yvonne, were kept very busy. They had printed 40 question sheets and handed out 39, so were starting to panic when they only had a few left! In the event, 39 teams competed for this prestigious competition.

We also had a small lucky dip, at a pound a go, which was very popular.

All in all a lovely evening.

With thanks to Richard and Mary Grunwell for devising the questions.
