Scalby Fair Walk raises over £850 for nominated charity

The Scalby Fair Committee, at its meeting on Sunday last, confirmed that the sum raised for its nominated charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, wMany thanks to St Nicholas Masonic Lodge, Scalby Fair and Scalby Methodist for their kind donations.ould be in excess of £630.

The Committee was delighted at the amount raised, given the atrocious weather on Easter Monday, the day of the walk, and congratulated all participants once again for turning out and completing the walk.

Update:

Many thanks to St Nicholas Masonic Lodge and Scalby Methodist for their kind donations to funds for our nominated charity.

Thank you also to the ladies at Hackness Road Surgery for their £110.73 sponsorship money to the Teenage Cancer Trust for Scalby Walk!

That takes us up to £859.55!

Scalby Fair Charity Walk 2018: report

The 59th Scalby Charity Walk took place on Easter Monday, 2 April 2018, despite the horrible weather and the Scalby Fair team  is delighted to say that it was a great success with 45 entrants in the main Walk and 3 in the shorter version. Congratulations to all the participants and organisers for battling the wet and windy conditions.

We are already looking forward to the 60th anniversary of the Scalby Walk on 22 April 2019.

Winner’s Cup – 1st resident lady: Nicky Grunwell
Parker Cup – 1st resident man: Stuart Raw
Castle Cup – fastest resident lady: Nicky Grunwell
Crystal Trophy – fastest resident man: Stuart Raw
Barrie Milner Award – fastest non-resident lady: Caroline Teague
Erskin Cup – fastest non-resident man: Alan Teague
Gladys Wilson Cup – oldest resident lady: Maureen Cullingworth
Rocky Fisher Cup – oldest resident man: Brian Beaver
Peter Walton Cup – first non-resident lady: Caroline Teague
Sam Skilbeck Shield – first non-resident man: Alan Teague

Photographers and video makers: can you help?

Scalby Fair is looking for local, Scarborough photographers and videographers to help to capture the upcoming Fair events, starting with the Scalby Run on Easter Monday and Fair week in June.

Photos and videos will be used here on Scalby Fair website and our social media.

Full credit will be given for all work.

Do you have an old bike to donate to the Fair?

The Tour de Yorkshire visits Scalby on Saturday, 5 May. The Fair Committee is planning a warm welcome for this stage of the ride and would like your help to decorate the village.

If you have an old bike you can donate to the Fair Committee we will arrange to have it painted in TdY colours and put on display in the village.

If you can help, please contact the Fair Secretary.

In 2024 Scalby Fair and Scalby Walk has given over £5,000 to good causes.

In 2025 Scalby Fair will partner with the charities Newby & Scalby Library, Future Works NY, and Scarborough Mates. Help us help them.
