Scalby Walk is a family-friendly charity walk, now in its 59th year, that brings the three north Scarborough villages of Scalby, Burniston and Cloughton together in friendly competition. Held every Easter Monday, it is a fun event for both locals and visitors, appealing to competitive walkers and to families of all ages and all are welcome.

This year’s walk is on Monday, 2 April 2018.

Please get some sponsorship for our charity for the year, The Teenage Cancer Trust, and come in fancy dress if you wish (well. it’s a tradition actually!), and make sure you sip a half-pint at each of the four pubs on route (it’s part of the competition! – soft drinks available).

The 7-mile walk starts at The Nag’s Head in Scalby Village, on to Scalby Road, through to Burniston and Cloughton and returning along the coastal road and then on to Field Lane/Station Road to the start point at The Nag’s Head. Participants are expected to drink a half pint of beer or soft drink in each of the 4 pubs en route. This is a must to be eligible for any of the trophies. No lingering though!

Pubs to be visited are as follows:

• First Stop: Three Jolly Sailors, Burniston
• Second Stop: The Red Lion, Cloughton
• Third Stop: The Blacksmiths Arms, Cloughton
• Fourth Stop: The Oak Wheel, Burniston

This year we have nominated The Teenage Cancer Trust as the recipient of the proceeds. This important charity does some amazing work, giving support, care and advice to young people living with cancer. Please help us support this work by getting sponsorship for the walk.

The entrance fee is £10 per person and includes a half-pint drink at each of the four pubs. Entry forms available to download below or from the Nag’s Head, Scalby.

Please return your entry form to The Nag’s Head, Scalby, by the end of Saturday, 1 April 2018 to get an early start time (from 10:30 am). Entry is also available on the morning of the walk.

Prize giving and results ceremony from 4:00 pm.
